Harrison is TWO (Part I)

Dear Harrison,

Happy birthday my love!!!!!  You have grown so much in a year - in size and development.  You are one amazing little boy...

 You love horses, or should I say "bousas" We let you watch TV in the mornings while you eat your banana and either cereal, waffle or egg.  You always want to watch Sheriff Callie which you call "bousa".  I cannot wait for you to ride one some day soon.

You are a great eater.  You love bananas, apples, mandarin oranges, and most recently peaches.  Strawberries are hit or miss as well as blueberries.  You love all beans except green beans.  You love chicken and turkey.  You would eat two sweet potatoes at a sitting if I would let you. You go through phases with yogurt.  You love cheese, peanut butter, applesauce, and raisins.  You are not into all veggies yet.  You won't eat peppers, cucumbers, carrots, avocado, or tomatoes.  We do not fight much over meals.  You do not need praise or encouragement.  If that happens you refuse even more.  Everything needs to be your idea.

You are working on becoming a protective big brother.  You like to go into Atticus's room in the mornings and say "baby out"  You look for him if he is not going with us for school drop off.  When we are at school you like to show how you rock him in his carseat but get upset if another friend wants to rock him.  You help me get a diaper for him, you will hold his bottle for him, you have thrown away dirty diapers for me and you ask for him to join you in the bath.  You are a big help as I knew you would be.

Bedtime used to be my favorite time, but our routine has changed with Atticus and your Dad and I have to split this time but as he gets older I foresee bedtime being my favorite again.  Currently it is a struggle to get you to sleep in your room all night, but I love hearing you call out for me or want to be comforted by me in the night.  The way you snuggle up next to me is something I know in years to come I will miss so I welcome it.  You will become more independent and will be in your own room all night on your own time.  My hope would be snuggled up with your baby brother.

You love being outside.  In the afternoons we always end up outside for your snack.  We play in the water, check the garden, go on walks, throw rocks, chase chickens, pet cats, smell flowers, listen to birds, point to the sky for airplanes.  You are so much fun.

You love books.  You love animals.  You love cars, trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, bulldozers, trains and planes.  You love balls, balloons, and bubbles.

You like adventuring.  If your shoes get put on you stand by the door ready to go.  I love taking you places and seeing the world through your eyes.

You like water.  You love to drink it and play in it.  You love bath time.  You have become more willing to get into the pool.  You like riding on our boat but not a fan of getting in the lake.  Now that you know you can catch fish I think we will be doing a lot of that in the future.

You like to make a mess but you are clean for a toddler.  If you see dirt you let me know.  If you drop food you let me know.  If you have a booger on your hand you let me know. If you have something in your mouth you let me know. And if you hurt your head, hand, foot, etc. it must be kissed. I adore that.

You like music.  You know what you want to hear.  Once a song starts on the record player you say in seconds "no" if you do not like it.  You break out in dance to some of the strangest songs.  I basically think you just like a good beat. 

You love to run and scream and get into everything.  You do not miss a thing.

You are a talker.  You always have something to say.  Your vocabulary has exploded!!!

You are a creature of habit.  You are particular.  You know how you want things.  You are strong willed.  You are loud.  You are sweet.  You are loving.  You are always on the go.  You have your moments but overall a wonderful child.

Thank you for making me a Momma.  My heart exploded with love on this day two years ago and it grows more and more every day.  I cannot imagine my life without you.  I am a better person because of you.  I want to be so much more because of you.  You carry my heart with you wherever you go.  You are my first true love.

 I could never tell you enough how much I love you and how much you mean to me.  Nor could I ever tell you every detail about you in just one letter.  I just hope you have the best birthday…now let's go celebrate you!!!!!
