Atticus Knox: 7 Months

Dear Atticus,

We've now packed up all of the lights and decorations of Christmas but the feelings and memories of your first Christmas are lingering.  Christmas means different things to everyone.  Christmas is Jesus's birth to many, it is about Santa visiting to those who believe, and about being with those near and dear to you.  In all versions of Christmas the theme is love.  It is the one time of the year that I am reminded of the goodness in people and the importance of spending as much time as I can with the people I love. We had so much of that this holiday -- all of my Christmas wishes came true.  It was the best holiday season.

The greatest of my memories was watching you and your brother be loved on and played with and enjoying each other.  You are still so very young but as I put you down to sleep I took mental pictures of this beautiful baby boy who has taken my heart and the hearts of those that meet him.  You are the most special baby boy.  I cannot wait for more Christmases with my boys.

As well on Christmas Day you started Army crawling across Grand's floor and you have been non-stop ever since.  You are eating more foods - mashed potatoes and eggs.  We will be getting back into a better routine once the New Year begins but for now we are all still in holiday mode.

I love you always little bird.

Your Momma

Atticus Knox: 6 Months

Hello my beautiful baby boy.  You grow more beautiful as the days pass.

You fit into our family perfectly each and every day.

You are the most chill baby on the planet.  I am so lucky you are because your big brother wants the spotlight most of time.  But my sweet you are oh so loved.  You have your own little spotlight.  You are so very special.

You watch your brother with admiration and love.  He can make you laugh like no one else can.  Your bond is the greatest thing on the planet.  I am so lucky to witness it daily.  To be the one that gave life, that gave you this home to grow up together in, to run and play and fight and make up and grow into the men you are meant to be.  But oh please do not grow up so fast.  I want to freeze these moments forever and ever…

You were so cold and unhappy….but you were in good hands.

Over the last month you have started sitting up, you feed yourself, you roll everywhere and want to crawl.  You might be the loudest person in our house.  You love to squeal and talk and sing and laugh.

And oh that smile….

I love you Atticus.  Happy 6 Months.

Yours Always,

Momma

Atticus Knox: 5 Months

Hello my little Indian,

You were officially 5 months on Saturday.  We all dressed up for Halloween and went to Pumpkinfest in downtown Franklin with all of our friends.  Your brother loves Sheriff Callie so we went with a Wild West theme this year.  Harrison was a sheriff, your Dad was his deputy and you and I were Indians.  It was an unseasonably hot day and you wore your costume only to take photos.  It was also overcrowded.  It was honestly too much.  But the good thing is we were able to see everyone and all decide that next year we will begin having our own festival in our backyard.  I cannot wait for the traditions we will put in place to make the holidays memorable and fun!

More memories to come my sweet baby…

I love you so much,
Momma

My Two Sons

Dear Harrison,

You are my little sidekick. I love finding more things to do with you that you enjoy. We love to jump in puddles together. We dig in the dirt together. We gather acorns together. We corral chickens together. We have fun!!

It has been a month since Hannah came back and you have been out exploring more with her too. You are learning about wildlife and it makes me so happy.

You are my explorer. My ball of energy. My curious one.  I love adventuring through life with you.

I love you so so so much.

Dear Atticus,

I have told you before that we are kindred spirits.  The moments we share there is no doubt you feel it too.

I can read you like a book.  I can tell in the change of your breath when you are tired.  I can tell by the cry that you have pooped.  I can hear in the coos when you talk mid-nap that you are not actually awake.  The best are the smiles you give when you wake, when you are spoken to, and when you see something you like.  But what trumps that are the laughs you belt out when your brother is near.

I have a heavy heart when I think about you and making sure through the chaotic everyday life you feel loved.

It is my life’s work to be your Momma.  To teach you and guide you and get you ready for the big great world out there.  I know that the world will never know what has hit it when you are let free into it.

I love you my little bird.

Atticus Knox: 4 Months

Dear Atticus,

You are four months old...

I cannot believe it has been four months since I was dancing with you watching the sunset in our hospital room. The good thing is we still dance.

We had your check up and yet again you weigh the same as your big brother did at this stage. You are one inch longer and he had your head size by half an inch. Still my little bookends.

You ate very close to rolling over but more than anything you want to sit up.

Your brother loves to make you laugh. You love to watch him.  The two of you…be still my heart.

We love you so much little bird!  Thanks for completing our family.

I love you,
Your Momma
